Tape
In order to assure you the very best VHS tape quality, we load our own! Consisting of four major elements and well thought out automation and process engineering we produce the best VHS tapes on the market today. In fact, tests show that our dropout rates (a standard measurement of quality used by the tape industry) are five to seven times better than the industry standard.
The first major element in the loading process is the shell. This is the plastic housing unit that encloses the tape. Also referred to as the V-0, the shell contains about twenty mechanical parts that enable the tape to function at a high quality level. Some of the more important aspects of the shell are: the brake mechanism, the metal pins, the guide pin, and the percentage of re-ground plastic.
The second element is the clean room. This is a dust free, climate controlled room where the tape is wound into the shell. Some of the more important factors in a clean room are: hepa filters, consistent temperature, personnel traffic, positive air pressure, and overall cleanliness.
The third element is the tape. The tape is the material that the program is recorded on. Some of the important aspects are: brand name, dropouts, durability, picture sharpness, audio clarity, and abrasiveness.
The fourth element is the loaders. These are the machines that cut and spool the tape into the shell. Some important features in loaders are: single versus dual pancake, manual stacking versus conveyor in-feed and out-feed, reliability, cue tones, speed, and daily cleaning maintenance.
Those are the ingredients for a great tape, but combining them is what counts. If any of the four elements mentioned above are mediocre then the result is mediocre or poor tape.
